BIO: JULIE MCGREGOR is a Toronto based Jazz Vocalist with a natural delivery and a rich, warm tone. She draws her audiences in with an intimate and expressive storytelling style. Her repertoire covers a wide range of Traditional and Modern Jazz, Blues, Swing and Latin standards. 'Julie and her band were simply amazing! I have no words to describe the wonderful performance they gave....Every aspect of working with Julie was flawless, and when it came to the performance itself, she was fantastic. Beautiful voice, great selection of songs, fantastic delivery.' T.Valenski

She studied in workshops with Barry Harris, Sheila Jordan, Roberta Gamerbini and privately with teachers from Humber College and The University Of Toronto. She was nominated for Best Jazz at the New Music Awards and was awarded Best Jazz Vocalist at the Burlington Jazz Festival. 'I am forever a student of Jazz. It certainly is a journey and an adventure. I never stop learning and the more I learn the more fun it becomes for me. I love working with jazz musicans, jazz poets and other jazz vocalists who I find creative and inspirational. I feel very fortuneate to work with many great jazz talents in The Singer's Jazz Series which is a jazz event that I produce and host a few times a year. We were part of the Toronto Jazz Festival for the past 3 years now and each show was improvised and somewhat unpredictable, all with great energy. All the performers were outstanding, but I have to give a special mention to Canadian Jazz Legend, Norm Amadio who played piano for us up until he retired at 86 and was my piano player for about 8 years. I also have my own wrecking crew called The Kensie Jazz Band. I love working with these guys, some the best musicians around. We have played some pretty exciting places and events like Dundas Square, Brassaii, The Four Seasons Yorkville, Guelph University and The Pearson Convention Centre."

Julie is also an accomplished fine artist having exhibited at The Varley Gallery, The Tom Thomson Gallery and The Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, to name a few. Check out her artist page here: Artist Page
